A Lifetime with Horses: 14+ Years of Experience
Hi, I’m Kirsten Mitchell, founder of True North Horse Company, and I’ve been working with horses for over 14 years. What started as a passion when I was younger has turned into an incredible journey of learning, riding, and helping others achieve their goals in the saddle. My background in dressage has shaped who I am, but what truly drives me is connecting riders of all levels—whether you’re a young beginner or a seasoned professional—with the tools, training, and products they need to succeed.

Saddle Fitting: The Key to Comfort and Success
At True North, I specialize in saddle fitting for Custom Saddlery, a brand I love for its adjustability, quality, and personalized design options. Horses change over time, and I know firsthand how important it is for a saddle to grow with both the horse and rider. I’ve had the same Custom saddle for 13 years, and it’s still going strong! Through my extensive experience with young horses and challenging-to-fit mounts, I’ve developed a deep understanding of what makes a perfect fit. My goal is to ensure both horse and rider are comfortable and confident, whether in competition or casual riding.

Dressage Saddles: Finding the Right Fit
What sets me apart as a saddle fitter is my hands-on experience with a wide variety of horses, coupled with my deep understanding of dressage. I understand the ‘feel’ that riders talk about and what it’s like to chase that perfect connection with your horse. A properly fitted dressage saddle is essential for maintaining that connection and allowing both horse and rider to perform at their best.
